LEWIS Cook skippered England under-21s to a dramatic win over China in their Toulon Tournament opener.

The Cherries star pulled the strings in midfield, playing the full 80 minutes of Saturday's 2-1 victory.

Yan Dinghao’s header put China in front but Dael Fry levelled after the restart and Tammy Abraham's last-gasp effort handed England victory.

Cherries goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was an unused substitute.

The Young Lions are back in action on Tuesday when Mexico provide the opposition in Salon-de-Provence (6.30pm).

Midfielder Harry Arter – who has held talks with Cherries boss Eddie Howe over his future – will hope to feature in the Republic of Ireland's friendly with France in Paris tomorrow.

Meanwhile, striker Benik Afobe could feature for DR Congo as they face Nigeria (both 8pm).

Afobe spent the second half of the season just gone on loan to Championship winners Wolves, where he scored six goals in 16 games.
