PIRATES spearhead Brady Kurtz says he is doing everything in his power to rediscover his best form.

Kurtz top scored with 11 paid 13 points as Poole came from behind to salvage a 45-45 draw with SGB Premiership high-fliers Wolverhampton last night.

The 21-year-old has been one of Pirates's few shining lights in a dismal start to the season which has seen them slip to the bottom of the table.

Kurtz said: "It's definitely not easy going into every meeting as number one.

"If you are not on top of your game, it's very easy to get beaten by the best riders from the other team.

"I’m doing everything I can and felt tonight was a bit better than last week. I’m still trying to find what is going to work."

Asked whether track conditions at Wimborne Road had been hampering him, Kurtz replied: "There aren’t problems with the track for any of us, it's more that it's different all the time.

"I have ridden here for three years and, every meeting, I feel like I'm turning up as an away rider, thinking what am I going to use today?

"Every meeting, I’ve used something different and it takes me two or three races to find out what is going to work. It's not ideal for any of us really.

"We just need a consistent track every week and I’m sure all the boys can get dialled in."
