FERNDOWN Jitsu Club flew the flag for Dorset after winning nine trophies at the National Junior Judo Championship at the National Judo Centre in Walsall.

William Bowden was crowned new national champion and also won a silver medal, while Joshua Hodgson collected two silvers.

Riley Bradshaw also won silver, Lucas Norman-Hardiman took a bronze and a special award, while Mark Mills collected two bronze medals.

Ferndown also won the National Junior Judo ratio shield which was presented to Sensei Jordan Lee by Sensei Hatamoto John Hanrahan who was chairman for more than 16 years before handing over to Erica Lee in 2016.

Hanrahan said: “I am still very proud of the Jitsu club's new achievements and it is great to see them still bringing national trophies back to Ferndown and Dorset."

Anyone interested in Jitsu should turn up at the Ferndown Scout Hut near Ferndown Upper School on Wednesdays (7pm).
