HELEN Durrant is one step closer to the round of a lifetime with a European Tour star after she won a regional final of the Bridgestone Chase Your Dream Trophy.
The Parkstone Golf Club member kept alive her dream of a place in the pro-am at the British Masters when she qualified at Dainton Park Golf Club in Newton Abbot.
Durrant, who has a handicap of 24, will head to Frilford Heath GC in Oxfordshire for the national finals in August.
The top players there will play in the pro-am at the Bridgestone Challenge and the winning team there will secure a date at the British Masters.
Durrant, who scored a net 73 at Dainton Park, said: “I never expected to qualify – let alone finish top of qualifying. I am over the moon.
“In such tough conditions, I am really impressed how well I did.
“I’ve been playing for two years and have improved so quickly – all thanks to playing with my husband and son.
“I’m thinking all the way to the British Masters because I really want the opportunity to play there. This tournament is superb for amateurs and I can’t thank Bridgestone and England Golf enough.”
