CAPTAIN Tom Caines led from the front as Wimborne & Colehill inflicted more misery on Dorset Premier League rivals Swanage on Saturday.

Caines hit an unbeaten 81 and shared a fifth-wicket stand of 114 with Mark House (48) as the Minstermen registered a convincing 132-run victory at the Leaze.

The skipper's knock helped the hosts post a formidable 242 for seven before Swanage were shot out for just 110 – a third consecutive low score for last season's runners-up.

Colin Randall (31) and George Bartlett laid the foundations for Wimborne by putting on 48 for the first wicket before House and Caines continued the good work.

Caines's 88-ball stay included six fours, while Mike Nash (2-38) and Ryan Norman (2-53) both chipped in with a couple of wickets for Swans.

The visitors, dismissed for 110 and 112 in their first two games, slumped to 45 for four with Ed Bartlett (3-27) doing most of the early damage.

Only Ryan Norman (25), Craig Wells (16) and John Lewis (16) reached double figures as Swans lost their last five wickets for the addition of just 21 with James Williams (4-31) making hay.

Victory saw Wimborne & Colehill stay on the coat-tails of top two Dorchester and Poole Town, while a third successive defeat for Swans left them marooned at the foot of the table with just 10 points.

Tom Robinson starred with bat and ball as Poole Town maintained their impressive start with a crushing eight-wicket win over champions Broadstone at Delph Woods.

Robinson (4-52) ripped through the Broadstone top order as they were dismissed for 153.

Reeling at 76 for six, it could have been worse for the hosts with Steve Trembath (43), who remained undefeated, and Matt Spraggs (22) putting on 41 for the seventh wicket (Joe Wormington 2-28).

Although Robin Lutman fell cheaply, Luc Kear and Ciaran Quinn (26) shared a second-wicket partnership of 56 as Poole Town eased to 67 for two (Jonathan Colegate (2-35).

An unbroken stand of 90 between Kear (73) and Robinson (43) ensured the visitors would ease home without further loss with 157 for two reached in just 22.4 overs.

Poole Town's third successive victory of the season left them just two points behind early leaders Dorchester, their opponents at Poole Park in five days.
