LINUS Sundstrom admits he is an underdog to progress from his Grand Prix qualifying semi-final at Lonigo tomorrow.

The Pirates racer needs to finish in the top three to progress to the GP Challenge but faces a tough field which includes the likes of Kenneth Bjerre, Vaclav Milik, Bartosz Smektala and Andreas Jonsson.

Third reserve for this year's world championship, Sundstrom has made two previous visits to the Italian track.

He told the Daily Echo: “I go in as the underdog as I have not been in form so far this year.

“I’m not putting too much pressure on myself, I’m just going to go out there and enjoy riding my bike and we will see where I end up.

“It is really tough to qualify, even when you are on form and I’m not where I want to be. All I have to do is go there and do my best."

Meanwhile, Poole spearhead Brady Kurtz will aim to reach the top three at Danish circuit Slangerup.

The Australian has been pitted alongside riders including Krzysztof Kasprzak, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Jacob Thorssell and Jack Holder.
