WIMBORNE Athletic Club's Grace Copeland won her second international vest as many months when she represented England on the streets of Uderzo in Italy.

Following her debut in Paris earlier in the year, the Queen Elizabeth's School pupil ran 17:34 for the 5km course and was the fourth English athlete home in the well-established under-20 event.

Holding back from the initial surge of the expected frontrunners, Copeland and her compatriots worked their way through the field.

And the Parley-based runner finished in 11th place, less than a minute behind winner and home favourite Nadia Battocletti.

Italy claimed team honours, with the England squad second out of the 11 European nations taking part.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth AC’s Kevin Hodgson completed three sub-50 second 400m in a week to reach the semi-finals of the British Universities Championship.

Bradley Pickup cleared 7.63m for a win in the first round of the French Club Championship.

Steve Way ran six minutes faster than his London Marathon to secure a four-minute win at the North Dorset Villages Marathon.

The BAC veteran clocked an impressive 2:30:48 as he prepares for a return to The Comrades Marathon in South Africa.

Iain Trickett of Dorset Doddlers ran 2:34:58 in second place, with BAC’s Anthony Clark third in 2:46:25.

Littledown Harriers’s Heather Khoshnevis (3:35:10) and Caroline Horder (3:36:27) secured second and third in the women’s race.

Dave Cartwright of Poole Runners ran 3:13:25 to lead this year’s British over-65 rankings.
