RESURGENT Swanage & Wareham sealed their third win in four games to boost their chances of avoiding relegation from Southern Counties South.

The Bestwall outfit travelled to North Dorset on Saturday and emerged 37-30 winners.

Having conceded an early penalty, the visitors responded positively.

Fly-half Stephen Woolley crossed in the corner after 12 minutes and, from the restart, centre Matt Roberts worked his way over after a few phases to earn a second score.

Despite the hosts reducing to two points the deficit with a converted try, a penalty from Woolley and a touchdown from Chris Tomes gave Swans a 20-10 advantage at the interval.

Although the hosts restored parity, Swans rallied and found two converted tries at key moments.

Adam Smith scored close to the posts before Tomes touched down for the second time, giving the visitors a 34-20 lead.

Another penalty from Woolley added three more points to Swans’ total.

Two tries late on earned North Dorset a losing bonus-point.

*New Milton ran in six tries to overcome Basingstoke 34-10 in London Three South West.

Dalton Thomas and Will Machin touched down twice with Tom Duckworth and Ben Russell also crossing the whitewash.
