BOSS Jurgen Klopp insisted Liverpool needed Mohamed Salah’s goal greed after he found the net for consecutive games against Cherries.

Forward Salah recorded his 40th goal of the season in all competitions, as the Reds ran out 3-0 winners over Eddie Howe’s men at Anfield.

It took to 30 his tally in the Premier League this campaign and put him five ahead of Tottenham’s Harry Kane in the race for the golden boot.

Klopp said: “We need his greed, we need him to want to score.

"Weeks ago I said to Mo after a game 'that's a situation where you have to pass'. Sometimes it's so obvious that he knows it.

"He is not distracted about the golden boot, he wants to have it like he wants us to be successful.

"If he gets the golden boot it's pretty likely that we are successful, so I have no problem with that."

Egyptian forward Salah joined Roger Hunt and Ian Rush as the only Reds players to have scored 40 times in a single season when he headed home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s teasing cross on 69 minutes.

The forward also found the net when the Reds triumphed 4-0 against Cherries at Vitality Stadium in December.
