PIRATES new boy Linus Sundstrom wants to add to his string of successes in Europe's best leagues.

Sundstrom won Poland's Ekstraliga with Gorzow four years ago and has twice triumphed in Sweden's Elitserien with Piraterna.

The 27-year-old has also sealed Allsvenskan glory on two occasions, with Lejonen and Masarna.

However, Sundstrom has not featured in the top-flight play-offs on these shores, yet alone scooped silverware. And that is a record the former Peterborough and Ipswich rider is keen to change.

Sundstrom, who is due to line up in Pirates' 70th anniversary meeting on Friday, told the Daily Echo: "I've won titles in Sweden and Poland but I haven't won anything in England so of course that is on my mind.

"Poole have a very good record in the 21st century and I think Matt Ford, the riders and the fans are expecting big things this season.

"It's a positive feeling but we need to see what happens when we get on track. It looks promising. The team looks really good and we have a really good mix of riders.

"Poole is one of the best-run clubs in England and since I was a kid I wanted to be part of it, so I'm really looking forward to racing for the Pirates."

Sundstrom is due to ride for Gorzow, Masarna and Piraterna this year.
