CHERRIES midfielder Harry Arter has withdrawn from international duty with the Republic of Ireland due to injury.

Arter had been named in a provisional 30-strong squad for a friendly against Turkey in Antalya on Friday.

But the 28-year-old has been forced to pull out after damaging his calf during a training session with Cherries on Wednesday.

It kept him out of today’s 2-1 win over West Brom at Vitality Stadium and he is likely to remain a doubt for the trip to Watford on March 31.

Arter will be treated by Cherries medical staff during the club’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

Eddie Howe’s squad headed to the United Arab Emirates immediately after today’s game and will return on Friday.

Boss Howe told the Daily Echo: “Harry pulled his calf in training on Wednesday.

“We don’t think it is anything too serious but it will be enough to keep him out of the international and maybe our next game. We will wait and see how he responds to treatment.”
