MIDFIELDER Matt Worthington has signed a one-year contract extension and will remain at Cherries until at least the summer of 2019.

The 20-year-old, on the road back from ankle ligament trouble, made his Premier League debut at Leicester City on the final day of last season.

He spent time on loan at Yeovil Town this campaign, returning to Dorset in January having made 15 League Two appearances.

Worthington told the club website: “It’s been in the pipeline for a while so it’s brilliant to get it over the line.

“I really enjoyed my time at Yeovil and gained a lot of experience.

“The standard of the Premier League is high and training with the first team helped me a lot, as did going out on loan in a totally different environment.”
