WILLIAM Rabjohns and Emily Shaw scored a Dorset one-two at the South of England Cross-Country Championship.

South west under-13 champion Rabjohns overcame an unfavourable draw and a rough start which left him off the pace at Brighton’s Stanmer Park.

He gradually worked through to contest the lead at the halfway mark. Out-climbing his rivals on lap two, he claimed victory by four seconds on his regional debut.

Shaw was running third until the final straight but outsprinted Beatrice Wood (City of Salisbury) to add under-15 silver to her under-13 runner-up medal of last year.

Both Shaw and Grace Copeland, sixth in the under-17 women’s event, led Wimborne AC to fifth in their respective races.

Bournemouth AC’s David Long finished 15th in the senior men’s race while Serena O’Connor of Poole Runners was 19th among the junior women.
