EDDIE Howe admitted Cherries striker Sam Surridge could face an 11th-hour recall as the transfer deadline closes in.

The 19-year-old is midway through a season-long loan at League Two outfit Yeovil Town, where he has scored seven goals in 37 appearances.

And amid rumours Cherries frontman Benik Afobe is a target for a string of Premier League and Championship clubs, Howe would not rule out a recall for Surridge.

Howe told the Daily Echo: "There's no update – he's still at Yeovil. We will make our decision, if we do make any decision, within the next day.

"You have to be in a position where you are reactive all the time, just in case certain things happen which you don't plan for.

"That makes it interesting for the press and everyone connected with it but when you are working inside, that unpredictability is not necessarily a good thing."

Schooled at Ferndown Middle and Ferndown Upper, Surridge played 90 minutes of Yeovil's 4-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester United last week.

Fast-tracked into Howe’s first-team squad following impressive displays for the under-21s, Surridge is in his second spell at the club having left as a schoolboy.

His exploits at Yeovil recently earned him a new 18-month contract with Cherries.
