BOSS Eddie Howe admitted Cherries had not taken their chances to clear before West Ham converted a quick equaliser at London Stadium.

Cherries seized a 71st-minute lead courtesy of Ryan Fraser but the hosts immediately responded through Chicharito to rescue a 1-1 draw.

The visitors failed to deal with a long ball to the edge of the box, Steve Cook and Nathan Ake missing chances to head clear before Simon Francis's block of Marko Arnautovic's shot fell kindly for Chicharito.

Reflecting on the display, Howe said: “I thought we were pretty slow out of the traps. We did well not to concede under early pressure and got better as the game went on.

“It was a similar start to the second half but then we scored a great goal and you hoped with the way we had defended for the majority of the game, that was going to be enough to win.

“But we conceded straight after so that was the big disappointment.

“It was a long ball and we didn’t deal with it very well. It was one of the only times that happened.

“You could say it was a concentration issue, I’m not sure. It was just that we didn’t attack the ball well enough, twice.

“Our goal was a very well-worked one and we are frustrated with the nature of their goal.

“We are disappointed because we took the lead and once you get yourself in that position, you have to back yourself to win.”

Winger Fraser has scored three goals in his past three Premier League games.

Howe added: “Ryan has got better and better in recent weeks. He has been outstanding.

“He is now hitting the net regularly, which is massive, and I’m delighted with him.”
