CHERRIES star Callum Wilson is hoping West Ham fans give him stick for his touch of “magic” late leveller on Boxing Day.

Hammers were furious after Wilson’s controversial equaliser had been allowed to stand during the pulsating 3-3 draw at Vitality Stadium.

Wilson appeared to be in an offside position when he finished Nathan Ake’s cross deep into stoppage time – and the ball had appeared to roll down his right arm.

However, although linesman Simon Long flagged for an infringement, referee Bobby Madley overruled his assistant despite the two contentious incidents.

When asked about the goal by Sky Sports, Wilson said: “Sometimes you get those decisions against you. I put a little touch on it, to our delight, but not so much for West Ham.”

And questioned as to what type of touch he had got, the striker cheekily replied: “Magic!”

Wilson will on Saturday be hoping to maintain his impressive record against West Ham when Cherries renew rivalries with them at London Stadium (3pm).

The frontman netted a hat-trick in Cherries’ 4-3 win at Upton Park in August 2015 – his first goals in the Premier League and the club’s maiden victory in the top flight.

Discussing the rematch, which comes just 25 days after his hotly-disputed leveller in the Christmas cracker, Wilson said: “I know it is probably going to be a little hostile when I get there.

“But, as a striker, I feed off things like that. It makes you raise your game so, hopefully, that is what happens.

“I seem to do well against them. I have scored a few goals so, hopefully, I can continue the form I am in at the moment.

“For anybody, when you are getting booed away from home, you are going to try to prove a point and, regardless of that, I just focus on my own performance and it will only be a boost.

“It is a massive game. They are in and around us in the league so we know how vital it is to make sure we keep picking up points.

“I am mentally strong so things like that only add positivity to me and I feed off it so, hopefully, it happens.”

Wilson, who also started last season’s 1-0 defeat at London Stadium in August 2016, has scored in three of Cherries’ past four Premier League games.

He followed up his leveller against West Ham with equalisers in the draw at Brighton and during Sunday’s win over Arsenal, adding to his comeback hat-trick against Huddersfield in November. He also netted in Cherries’ Carabao Cup win over Middlesbrough in October.

Wilson also provided the assist for Jordon Ibe to notch Cherries’ winner against the Gunners and the pair’s form has delighted boss Eddie Howe.

He said: “If we can get all our attacking players in good form, confident and really believing in themselves then it will serve us very well.

“Callum and Jordon are big players for us. We know the strength and creativity they bring and it is going to be really important they keep it going.

“It is good to see those players firing very well and it is good to see the team in a position to supply them as well.”
