CHERRIES goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is set for a loan move to Chesterfield, the Daily Echo can exclusively reveal.

The 19-year-old is expected to link up with the League Two strugglers ahead of their trip to Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

Ramsdale, who helped England win the European Under-19 Championship in the summer, will remain with the Spireites for the remainder of the season.

An £800,000 buy from Sheffield United 12 months ago, Ramsdale has yet to make a first-team appearance for Cherries but was on the bench for the Premier League clashes at Everton in September and at Leicester on the final day of last season.

He was also Cherries’ back-up goalkeeper in this season's Carabao Cup ties against Birmingham, Brighton, Middlesbrough and Chelsea.

Stoke-born Ramsdale lined up twice for Sheffield United in the FA Cup last season, in a 6-0 win over Leyton Orient at Bramall Lane in the first round and the second round defeat by Bolton, the club which had released him at the age of 15.

Before joining Cherries, Ramsdale had been the subject of a reported bid from Everton, while Arsenal and Manchester City had also been tracking him.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Mark Travers is set to be replaced at Weymouth by Cherries team-mate Will Dennis.

Travers spent the first half of the season on loan to the Terras, scoring on his debut in a 3-2 win over Bishop's Stortford in August.

He is returning to Vitality Stadium with Dennis, who starred in Cherries' FA Youth Cup win over Hull last month, joining Weymouth on a youth loan.

Fellow goalkeeper Pat O'Flaherty is set for a temporary switch to Southern Premier League Farnborough, while Callum Stanton is expected to return to Isthmian League South Division Guernsey.

Ben Whitfield's loan extension with Port Vale is expected to go through tomorrow, in time for him to be available to face League Two rivals Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.
