SWANAGE & Wareham earned their first Southern Counties South victory of the season at the seventh attempt as they outclassed Blandford 34-5.

The home side took the lead nine minutes in when fly-half Steve Woolley slotted a penalty between the uprights.

A catch-and-drive move then resulted in hooker Jack Daniels scored his maiden try for the first team.

Swans continued to press and were rewarded in the closing minute of the first half.

After a series of phases, the ball came to flanker Matt Roberts and he scored close to the posts. Woolley added the extras, handing his side a 15-point lead at the break.

Blandford hit back 15 minutes into the second half, a breakaway by the backs enabling the visitors to touch down in the corner.

But Swans' response was swift. Adam Smith's superb line of running allowed him to cut through the defence and score close to the posts.

Woolley added the extras and the lead was extended to 22-5.

With 13 minutes remaining, number-eight Joe Desmond found himself in the clear to cross for a bonus-point score, which Woolley converted.

And there was still time for second-row Kirk Jones to grab his second try of the campaign when he went over in the corner.

Swans II were thrashed 54-14 by Wimborne II and Swans III were given a walkover as Salisbury IV could not raise a side.

Swans I: A Smith, Phillips (Haw, 64), Romanillos, D Elford, Hardy, Woolley, Tomes, Audley, Daniels, Wyburgh (G Smith, 69), Dicker, Jones, McCaffrey (Wright, 55), Roberts, Desmond.
