ASMIR Begovic sees no reason why Cherries cannot match their impressive Premier League points tally from last season.

Cherries totalled 46 in the top flight in 2016-17 – recording a club record ninth-place finish.

With 10 points from 11 games this season, Eddie Howe’s men are currently 17th.

But goalkeeper Begovic, who signed from Chelsea in the summer, has far greater ambitions than their current position.

Asked whether he felt Cherries could have as strong a campaign as last season, Begovic replied: “Why not? We are 11 games in and the period after this international break is going to be huge.

“There are lots of games and lots of points to play for. If we can get on a positive run then why can’t we at least match last season’s total?”

Cherries host Huddersfield on Saturday week before visiting Swansea on November 24 and rounding off a big month at home to Burnley three days later.

Begovic said: “These sort of months and times of the year are season-defining.

“But we won’t look too far ahead.

“We will use the international break to work hard, to get ready for Huddersfield and will do our best to pick up maximum points,” he added.
