EDDIE Howe admits he has been reading up on Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez.

The Spaniard has Champions League, Europa League and UEFA Cup glory on his CV, while he also led Valencia to two La Liga titles.

Renowned as a master tactician, Benitez steered Newcastle to the Championship crown last season.

And speaking ahead of Cherries' meeting with the Magpies tomorrow (3pm), Howe revealed how he had dipped into Benitez's literary efforts.

Howe told the Daily Echo: "When you look at the teams he has managed, the track record he has is second to none and he is well known to be tactically very astute.

"I've read a couple of his books and he is a very intriguing guy. I haven't been reading those books this week, this was a while ago!

"I always try to broaden my understanding of people and knowledge of football."

Reflecting further on the Premier League encounter, Howe added: "As always in the Premier League, tactically there are no secrets but it will be a very interesting game.

"The formation is about the players not the managers and how the players interpret that so, hopefully, we can put on a good show."
