Swanage & Wareham crashed out of the Dorset & Wilts Cup after going down 26-22 against Southern Counties South rivals Sherborne at Bestwall.
Trailing 14-0, Swans reduced the arrears when flanker Matt Roberts went over, with full-back Stephen Woolley adding the extras to make it 14-7 at the break.
Swans made further inroads when scrum-half Chris Tomes was on hand to score their second try three minutes into the second half.
However, two tries and a conversion saw Sherborne forge into a 26-12 lead before Swans captain Nick Audley and Woolley both went over in the closing stages to set up a grandstand finish.
Swans: Woolley, Parish, Watkins, Elford, Smith, Warren, Tomes, Audley, Daniels, Wyburgh, Joynt, Oliver, McCaffrey, Roberts, Desmond. Replacements: Andrews, Dicker, Haw, Graves.
Ryan Morrell's try double proved in vain as New Milton suffered a 36-20 defeat at Petersfield in London Three South West. Brendan Treacey and Sam Bew also touched down for Milton.
