LEWIS Cook revealed a debt of gratitude to Jack Wilshere and insisted the out-of-favour Arsenal midfielder had the talent to play in any team.

Wilshere spent most of last season on loan at Cherries before seeing his stay cruelly cut short by a broken leg sustained against Tottenham in April.

Before injury struck, Wilshere was a regular in Eddie Howe's team with his range of passing a regular source of trouble for Cherries' Premier League rivals.

And ex-Leeds star Cook, whose game time increased after Wilshere's season had ended, admitted the England international's words of wisdom on the training ground had proved a huge help.

Cook told the Daily Echo: "I took a lot from him. On and off the pitch, he was a great guy.

"His skill on the pitch was unbelievable. In training, he would show me little things and I tried to add them to my game and improve as a player.

"He's a great player technically, very gifted, so I like watching him as well.

"The way he runs with the ball is very powerful. He's not the biggest guy but is very powerful on the ball and I felt I wanted to try to take that into my game.

"I'm not the biggest so I have to find other ways of getting past players by using my strengths so he helped me with that."

Wilshere has been restricted this season to one start in the Carabao Cup and a substitute appearance in the Europa League.
