GEORGIA Hall’s bid for a maiden victory on the Ladies European Tour ended in disappointment – despite a flying finish to her final round at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino.

Hall, who had led the tournament at the halfway stage, went on to claim fourth place, three shots behind local favourite and defending champion Azahara Muñoz.

Wimborne-based Hall extended her advantage after picking up birdies on two of the first five holes in her third round on Saturday before disaster struck when she double-bogeyed the par three eighth.

She eventually signed for a one-under 71 and started the final day in third place, although bogeys on the first and fifth saw her slip further off the pace.

However, she rallied by picking up an eagle on the par-five seventh and a birdie at the next before back-to-back bogeys at the 12th and 13th again left her playing catch-up.

And although Hall showed her mettle with birdies on four of the final five holes, her exploits proved in vain as Muñoz held her nerve.
