CHERRIES stopper Asmir Begovic feels the Premier League's new ball is making it tougher for goalkeepers to do their job.

The Nike Ordem V is being used in the top flight this season and Begovic believes shots are flying goalward quicker than ever.

He told the Daily Echo: "The ball is faster and moves more each and every year. That's just the way it is and it's the way they make it.

"It's the Premier League and everyone wants more goals, which makes it difficult for goalkeepers.

"We understand that and we have worked with the ball for a few weeks, so that's okay."

Asked if this was not a goalkeeper's era, Begovic said: "We are definitely going away from that every single year.

"I think goals are what sells the Premier League but it is what it is. Our game has to change as well – we have to make different decisions now to before."

The Ordem V is also the official match ball in La Liga and Serie A.

Nike, who are celebrating 18 years as the Premier League's ball supplier, enlisted some of the world's leading players to test the Ordem V during its development phase.
