INCREDULOUS Hans Andersen slammed referee Mick Bates for failing to exclude Swindon's Jason Doyle, insisting the decision could prove costly for Pirates.

Grand Prix standings leader Doyle fell in the first turn of heat 11 during the Robins' play-off semi-final victory at Wimborne Road on Monday.

The Aussie appeared to go to ground of his own accord but Bates ordered all four riders – including Andersen – to restart the race.

The Poole skipper was then warned for moving at the start in the initial aborted attenpt.

Pirates had been on a 5-1 in the initial attempt but had to settle for a 4-2 in the re-run and former Swindon star Andersen felt justice had not been done.

The Poole skipper told the Daily Echo: "I don't know how the ref can justify putting Jason Doyle back in heat 11.

"There was no one near him, we were on a 5-1 and he spun around by himself, and he got back in it.

"Instead of us having a 5-1, it was a 4-2 which was a heat advantage but you know what I mean? I think the ref made a major error which could be costly for us.

"It's definitely one Swindon got away with. First-bend bunching is first-bend bunching but there was no one near him at all.

"I was clear off the inside and Starkey made it over him. There was nothing. The referee messed it up."
