HAMWORTHY United boss Brendon King faces up against a “good friend” in Simon Browne when he takes his side to Portland United tonight (7.45pm).

King’s troops travel to the defending Sydenhams Wessex Premier champions, with Browne having taken over as manager of the Blues in the summer.

As well as being formerly in charge of Hammers, Browne named King as his assistant during his time at Wimborne Town.

But with the pair now in opposite dugouts, the County Ground manager is looking forward to the encounter.

King told the Daily Echo: “I think there are a lot of people who will be there. That’s just to see the action in the dugouts!

“I actually had a drink with Simon on Saturday night.

“I did say we will shake hands before the game, that hatred for 90 minutes will be there, and we will have a drink after.

“We are very good friends. We have been on holiday a lot, especially when we were younger.”

Elsewhere in the division, Brockenhurst host Lymington, while Bashley make the trip to Blackfield & Langley. In Wessex One, Verwood Town travel to Totton & Eling (all 7.45pm).
