BIRMINGHAM boss Harry Redknapp labelled Eddie Howe unsackable and tipped the Cherries manager to take charge of England.

Widely viewed as one of the country's most talented young bosses, Howe was linked with the Three Lions role following the departures of both Roy Hodgson and Sam Allardyce.

Across two spells, Howe led Cherries from the depths of League Two to the Premier League and the Dorset side recovered from a goal down to beat Birmingham 2-1 in the Carabao Cup second round on Tuesday.

Sandbanks-based Redknapp believes Howe will have a job at Cherries for as long as he wants – but feels he could go on to boss the national side one day.

Redknapp told the Daily Echo: "I'm a great fan of Eddie's and it's amazing what's happened at Bournemouth. I think they are an absolutely outstanding team.

"I heard the most farcical thing on the radio yesterday. They were doing a poll on him, Benitez, Conte and Bilic and people were voting who would get the sack first.

"Eddie Howe was one of the four names they put up – he will never get the sack at Bournemouth as long as he lives. He will leave Bournemouth when he is ready to leave and go on to manage England or somebody.

"I don't know why I was even listening to it, to be honest. Eddie Howe has done the greatest miracle in history – it's a joke isn't it?"

"It's fantastic what he's done. When you look now at how good Bournemouth are, they can pick two teams. The strength in depth is amazing.

"They have invested in players and got the best out of players who are already there, people like Simon Francis, Charlie Daniels and Steve Cook.

"They have all been amazing and it's great to see."
