VERWOOD suffered shootout agony as they exited the FA Cup against Badshot Lea following a thriller at Potterne Park.
Having gone behind to goals from Cameron Blackie and Darren Blake in the extra preliminary round replay, Potters goalkeeper Jamie Horton saved a penalty to keep it at 2-0.
Joe Meyer then converted a spot-kick at the other end to get Verwood back in it at 2-1 before the break.
Although Kamran Ahmed made it 3-1 to the Combined Counties League Division One outfit, Adie Arnold’s men rallied.
Meyer slotted home his second spot-kick before Joe Kimber scored with five minutes to go to make it 3-3.
But having had success from the spot in normal time, Verwood were undone in the shootout, going down 4-1 and crashing out of the competition.
Poppies also bowed out at the same stage after being left with just nine men in their 2-0 replay defeat against Combined Counties League Premier Division Knaphill at Victoria Park.
Connor Close headed home to give the visitors a 35th-minute lad.
Fawzi Saadi and Abdulaziz Aldhayan both saw red before Knaphill added a second through Eddie McKinlay.
