CHERRIES came to the aid of under-21 assistant Mark Molesley, as he was left without a goalkeeper in his dual role at Weymouth.
Molesley swooped to recruit the services of Republic of Ireland youth international Mark Travers from the Vitality Stadium on a six-month loan deal.
But Travers was ruled out of his loan club’s pre-season friendly with Poole Town on Saturday after being involved in a minor accident a day previously.
That meant Callum Stanton, also a member of Cherries’ under-21 set-up, stood in on a one-off basis.
Explaining the situation after Weymouth’s 1-1 draw with Dolphins, Molesley said: “Mark was in a minor accident and, as a precaution, he had been ruled out for a few days with a possible concussion.
“He is fine but it only happened on Friday.
“We were without a goalkeeper but, fortunately, Bournemouth lent us another one in Callum Stanton, who gave a good account of himself.
“The transition was smooth because I work with him day in and day out anyway. Some of the players know him as well.”
He added: “It worked for both parties. At Bournemouth, one of their goalkeepers got 90 minutes and it saved me going in goal!”
