TIMO Lahti hopes his bedding-in period is over after admitting he had been "pretty disappointed" with his first two Pirates meetings.

The former Finnish champion emerged with a haul of five paid six points from his Poole debut against Wolverhampton nine days ago, scoring five and winning his fourth ride 48 hours later in the home defeat to Swindon.

Those fixtures were Lahti's first foray into British racing since his most recent season at Eastbourne in 2014. And now the 25-year-old hopes to kick on to the next level.

He told the Daily Echo: "I'm pretty disappointed with both of the meetings. They could have been much better – I made mistakes.

"I hope I got used to British speedway again last week – the tracks are very different to those in Sweden and Poland.

"Against Swindon, I found a good set-up for my bikes in my last heat and then the meeting was over. I hope I can continue from that race."

On the continent, Lahti rides for Latvian side Daugavpils in Poland's second tier, while he also races for Swedish teams Rospiggarna and Griparna.

The Kouvola-born flier is also part of the set-up at Porin Nopea Racing, who compete in Finland's SM-Liiga.
