MAN of the moment Brady Kurtz admits Pirates' riders are unhappy over the 'deteriorating' Wimborne Road track and insists action must be taken to improve the circuit.

Poole managed just three heat advantages in Monday's 47-43 defeat to SGB Premiership leaders Belle Vue, suffering their second league defeat in six home meetings.

Although Kurtz capped his debut at number one for Pirates with an impressive 10 paid 12 salvo, the former Australian champion admitted the condition of the oval had not given his team home advantage.

And the 20-year-old wants substantial improvement to be evident by the time the Dorset club return to action against fellow play-off chasers King's Lynn in a fortnight.

Kurtz told the Daily Echo: "It was just too soft. The track has been deteriorating a little bit week after week and I think it has got to the point where something needs to be done.

"We all talk between ourselves and we know what the problems are. If it's getting worse for us and we're not happy about it, what's the point in us coming to race on it if it's not helping us?

"The track is the eighth member of the team, it's just as important as any rider and if it's good, it's much better for us.

"It's such a nice race track and it's a shame but I'm sure they can sort it out.

"Once they do that, I think we can pick our form back up and charge on until the end of the year. We can't lose any more home meetings, that's for sure."

Kurtz began the meeting against the Aces with two third-place finishes, which ended his unexpectedly long wait for his first bonus points of the season.

After that, the ex-Somerset star kicked on with a couple of race wins, alongside a second place in a three-man heat 15 in which Poole missed out on the 5-1 required for a draw.

Kurtz added: "The meeting was all right for me, I guess, although it was a bit disappointing we lost. What you can you do?

"Belle Vue have a strong team all the way through and they were just better than us.

"The track played in their favour a bit. It was different to normal and we weren't making starts and that made it hard for us to start with. We made a comeback but just fell short.

"I started off really slowly and it wasn't looking good but I managed to pull out a couple of wins. As a team, we need to look at where we went wrong and try to work on it for next time."

Kurtz's points haul meant he drew level on 119 for the season with captain Hans Andersen, who has had just one more ride than his team-mate despite completing a meeting more.

Jack Holder is the third-highest scorer at the club this year with 77 from 47 rides.
