JAKE Lintott returned to haunt his former county, helping Wiltshire inflict a heavy 218-run defeat on Dorset in the Minor Counties Championship.

Lintott, Chris Park’s vice-captain in the Dorset set up in 2015, claimed six second innings wickets at Corsham as the visitors were skittled for 188.

The all-rounder also hit 103 from just 95 balls in Wiltshire’s first innings as Dorset were toppled from the Western Division summit.

Resuming on 19 for one – chasing an improbable 407 for victory – Dorset were in more trouble when skipper Park was trapped in front by James Arney with just five runs added to their overnight total.

However, Luke Webb (69) and Sam Collins shared a resilient third-wicket partnership of 98, with both eventually falling to former Gloucestershire man Ed Young.

Parley’s Collins batted for more than two-and-a-half hours and faced 129 balls as Dorset looked to save the contest.

But the stand was as good as it got for Dorset as Lintott (6-50) ripped through them, with his five wickets in succession reducing them from 128 for four to 153 for nine.

There was some late resistance from Bournemouth’s Dom Clutterbuck, whose spirited knock of 29 from 35 deliveries ended when he was caught by wicketkeeper Patrick Grieshaber off the bowling of Jake Goodwin to seal Wiltshire a comfortable victory.
