CHERRIES star Junior Stanislas is expected to be fit for the start of pre-season after going under the knife to cure a persistent hernia problem.

Stanislas headed to Germany following Cherries’ final game of the campaign at Leicester on Sunday where he netted inside the first minute in their 1-1 draw.

The 27-year-old winger did not attend the club’s annual presentation night at the BIC on Monday and was instead operated on by one of Europe’s leading specialists.

Stanislas was ruled out at the start of the season after feeling discomfort in his groin and made his first appearance in the EFL Cup clash at Morecambe at the end of August.

He featured in nine of Cherries’ 11 Premier League games between September and early-December before being forced off by an ankle injury during the second half of the memorable 4-3 win over Liverpool at Vitality Stadium.

Stanislas spent three weeks on the sidelines before returning for the Boxing Day visit to Chelsea where he came off the bench in Cherries’ 3-0 defeat.

He had another extended absence during February and March before a fruitful end to the season saw him start the final six games and score in the last three against Stoke, Burnley and Leicester.
