DANIELLE Broom, Olivia Galloway and Ryan Webb achieved championship bests at the Dorset Track & Field Championship.

Webb cleared 2.10m, the best high jump recorded at the championship by a whopping 9cm.

Broom’s 53.70m personal best in the under-20 hammer placed her sixth on the national rankings. She scored a second championship best with 40.89m in the discus.

Olivia Galloway’s 14.7s under-20 100m hurdles victory was also a best performance, while her 5.61m long jump saw off Angel Kerin’s 5.36m challenge.

Andrew Elkins won the senior men’s hammer with 52.08m. Ryan Markham doubled the sprints (11.3s, 23.2s), while Rob Woolgar won the long jump (7.11m).

Hannah Winton achieved a senior women’s long jump (5.31m) and triple jump (11.06m) double. Megan Tuck’s 42.56m hammer throw saw off Ruth Elkins (40.11m). Tuck also dominated the shot (9.99m), discus (35.82m) and javelin (25.78m). Hannah Acquah inaugurated the 2000m steeplechase with a nippy 8:25.3.

In the under-20s, Dominic Willmore won both 1500m (4:20.0) and 5000m (16:24.5). Sam Wheeler doubled the sprints (10.9s, 22.3s). Lewis Sainval ran 2:04.7 for 800m victory. Cameron Hale won the javelin (50.12m). Joseph Miles cleared a 1.85m high jump. Bethan Burley trebled high jump (1.55m), shot (10.90m) and javelin (33.73m).

Cameron Cooke threw for a golden under-17 double (shot 12.89m, discus 36.97m). Tom Casson won the 100m a 10th of a second slower in the final than his championship best-equalling 11.0s. Adam Booth ran 14.8s for 100m hurdles. Lewis Naptin leapt 6.15m in the long jump.

Izzy Wedderburn achieved a championship best in the under-17 women’s long jump (5.67m) with Charlotte Ayton leaping 5.52m for silver. Hannah Slater posted a nationally-ranked 5:30.7 for the 1500m steeplechase. Caitlin Batcheldor won the hammer (46.40m) despite Abbie White’s 43.83m. Olivia Willmore (39.04m) got the better of Martha Taylor (36.82m) in the javelin.

In the under-15 boys, Seth Lake ran 42.8s and 2:11.7 for a 300m and 800m double, with Josh Smith a close second each time.

Yasmin Bridet won the under-15 girls’ 75m hurdles (11.9s), 100m (12.9s) and shot (9.76m). Abbie Lovering doubled the 300m (42.4s) and 800m (2:19.2). Emily Shaw won the 1500m (4:53.7) and Fern Kimber the 3000m (11:01.0). Imogen Davis was javelin champion (29.48m), while tie-breakers were applied to 1.45m high jumpers Louise Galloway and Polly Yule as well as 9.46m triple jumpers Amelia Hunt and Fleur Mansell.

William Rabjohns won the under-13 boys’ 800m in 2:24.5. Among the under-13 girls, Emma Salkeld won the 100m after a 13.4s heat. Molly White took the 70m hurdles with 11.8s. Safia Stacey high jumped 1.31m, while Harriet Dart was long jump champion (4.46m).

Meanwhile, Bournemouth AC achieved a competitive fourth place in their opening British Athletics League match.

Undaunted by promotion to the third tier, BAC’s enhanced squad performed well against three South London teams with home advantage.

Bradley Pickup, back after three Premiership seasons with Newham, scooped the long jump with 7.33m.

James Lelliott’s wind-assisted 7.22m won the B string and he also scored third in the javelin (55.03m), with Andrew Brown the B string victor (51.24m).

Steve Brunsden returned from two years out with a hammer personal best of 49.01m. His brother Dan was second in the B string with 43.49m and also finished third in the discus (40.84m). High jumper Alex Cox cleared 1.90m for third place.

Joshua King’s 3,000m steeplechase personal best 9:52.9 and Lewis Sainval’s B string 800m second place (2:01.37) were among BAC’s track highlights.
