LEWIS Cook says he is "bouncing off" his talented team-mates as he continues his baptism to Premier League life.

Midfielder Cook had been limited to a single top-flight appearance until he replaced the stricken Jack Wilshere to deliver an energetic display during Cherries' defeat at Tottenham earlier this month.

The 20-year-old continued in the same vein seven days later when he was introduced in place of Dan Gosling against Middlesbrough, performing with a maturity and confidence that belied his tender years.

Cook told the Daily Echo: "You have to be confident at this level. I am bouncing off all the other players, bouncing off H’s (Harry Arter's) experience. He is helping me through the games.

"I am putting myself about and trying to do my best for the team."

Cook shrugged off the disappointment of not starting against Boro and was grateful for the opportunity to show the home supporters what he could do.

He said: "There was no frustration – everyone is getting rotated. I got my chance and thought I did alright.

"Middlesbrough were dropping deep, so it was hard to get forward. But if I can break the lines I will and I am not afraid to shoot.

"We will see how the gaffer sets up at Sunderland. I will be happy enough with whatever he decides to do."
