CHERRIES manager Eddie Howe has described as a “big blow” the loss to injury of loan star Jack Wilshere.

The club today issued a statement confirming Wilshere would miss the final five games of the season.

His loan spell at Vitality Stadium ended prematurely after it emerged he had broken his leg during Cherries’ 4-0 defeat at Tottenham on Saturday.

Scans earlier this week confirmed the Arsenal and England midfielder had suffered a hairline fracture in his left fibula during an accidental collision with Harry Kane.

Howe said: “It is a big blow to lose Jack.

“We have loved working with him since he arrived at the club last August. He has made a huge contribution to our season, both on and off the pitch.

“We wish him a quick recovery and thank him for his effort and professionalism while he was with us.”
