TEAM manager Dan Draper singled out loosehead prop Russell Tinsdale for praise after Wimborne saw off Trowbridge 36-17 at Leigh Park.

The Minstermen ran in six tries to retain their firm grip on top spot in Southern Counties South, with the experienced Tinsdale playing his part.

Draper said: "All the players did their jobs with special mention going to Russell Tinsdale for his man-of-the-match performance.

“We were very pleased with a good all-round team performance. We were looking for the guys to show control and structure while maintaining the high-intensity play which has paid dividends thus far."

Ollie Hamer was first over but the visitors hit back to lead 7-5.

Trowbridge then spurned three penalty goal chances and were made to pay, Anthony Fitch scoring on his home debut with Tom Moysey converting.

Ashton Kerley then finished a controlled attacking move and Ed Carter went over for a converted try, increasing to 24-7 the lead.

Fitch grabbed his second try after the resumption and late on, replacement Paul Watson dived over in the corner. Moysey added the extras.

Trowbridge scored two tries of their own in the second half but were denied a losing bonus point.

Meanwhile, Matt Roberts was the four-try star as Swanage & Wareham thrashed Dorset Dockers 69-0.

Roberts scored a hat-trick inside 24 minutes and completed his personal crusade in the second half.

John Sheldrake and Isak Romanillos both crossed twice and also touching down were Karl Barton and Erin Inglis.

Steve Woolley scored his first try for Swans and also kicked seven conversions.
