ELLINGHAM & Ringwood were knocked out of the RFU Junior Vase at the quarter-final stage by holders Windsor following a 24-12 defeat at the Raymond Brown Memorial Ground on Sunday.
Windsor opened the scoring with a converted try after 20 minutes before Ellingham captain Ellis Collins replied with a superb touchdown which was converted by full-back Chloe Barrett.
Ellingham were rocked when centre Kourtney Driscoll and wing three-quarter Charlotte Smith clashed heads and both had to leave the pitch with concussion.
From the restart, Windsor compounded Ellingham’s woes when they scored a converted try to make it 14-7 at the break.
The visitors increased their advantage to 24-7 thanks to a brace of tries, although Ellingham were rewarded for sticking to their task when prop Ruth Miles went over to close the gap to 24-12 although their attempts to make further inroads were beaten by the clock.
