DORSET'S Georgia Hall is adamant Solheim Cup selection is not on her mind – despite being a leading contender to reach Iowa.

The 20-year-old, who will kick off her season at next week's £1.3million Honda LPGA Thailand after receiving an invite, is second in the Solheim Cup rankings following a series of stellar displays on the Ladies' European Tour.

The top four players will guarantee their places in the European team which faces the United States at Des Moines Golf and Country Club in August, with a further four sealing spots through the world rankings.

Captain Annika Sorenstam will have four picks to complete the line-up, which will be announced after the Women's British Open at Kingsbarns Links in early August.

Nevertheless, given Hall is second in the standings ahead of Charley Hull, Florentyna Parker and Emily Kristine Pedersen, the Wimborne-based ace appears in good shape to reach the biennial competition.

But she feels it is too early to be considering a potential place in the prestigious team event.

Hall, a keen Cherries fan, told the Daily Echo: "Playing in the Solheim Cup is one of the goals I've wanted to achieve since I was little but it's not on my mind at all at the moment.

"I just focus on each competition and if I get in, it will be a reward for my hard work and performances. Everyone would like to play in it but it is a long way away yet.

"It would be great to take part but in the past I've rushed ahead and thought how things could change if I do this and that, and there is no point in thinking like that."

Hall represented Europe in the Junior Solheim Cup in Denver, Colorado in 2013, the visiting team losing out 14.5-9.5.

Now on the brink of breaking into the world's top 100, Hall has already qualified for July's US Women's Open – based on 2016 exemptions – and hopes to bank her maiden victory on the LET.

The former Oakmead College pupil flew up the order of merit with five top-10 finishes in her final five events of last year, including a second place at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies' Open in Abu Dhabi, where she was pipped by the United States' Beth Allen.

Hall added: "I had a great year last year and, hopefully, 2017 will be even better. I'd like to win on the LET and have a good result in the US Open and, hopefully, get in the Evian Championship. I've always wanted to play in that.

"I have a lot of aims but will take it one competition at a time. I'm very confident for this year.

"I've never actually been in the US Open automatically before, so being in it this year will be great."

Hall's two professional titles to date are the Strasbourg Open and the Victorian Open, the latter of which she won in February last year.
