CHERRIES have been linked with a move for Norwich's Robbie Brady.

Vitality Stadium boss Eddie Howe witnessed Brady play 90 minutes of the Canaries' 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Southampton on Wednesday.

And now ESPN reports Cherries have joined Burnley in the race to sign the Republic of Ireland international, who can play on the left wing or at left-back.

Sunderland, Leicester, Newcastle and Aston Villa have also been linked with the 24-year-old, with Norwich reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of £12million.

Canaries boss Alex Neil said: “There have been negotiations that are on-going and contact from other clubs.

“I am not going to be specific about who that is or how much we are talking about. There has been dialogue.

"With Robbie I wouldn’t expect anything to happen soon because it is not at those levels. It will be our timescale and on our terms."

Meanwhile, Chelsea have reportedly turned down a bid from Cherries for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

The Telegraph stated Cherries had tabled an offer "in the region of £10m" for the Bosnia international and that negotiations were "set to continue".

The report added a move to Vitality Stadium would be "likely to appeal" to the 29-year-old, and that there would be a "strong possibility" Cherries would try to sign the ex-Portsmouth stopper in the summer if unsuccessful this month.

It was subsquently reported in the Evening Standard that Chelsea had rejected a £10m bid and were holding out for £12m.

Begovic has scarcely featured for the Blues since he joined in an £8m deal from Stoke in the summer of 2015.

He has made only four appearances this season – all of them in cup competitions.

Cherries are in the midst of a poor defensive run – they have let in three goals in eight of their past 10 games – leading the spotlight to be turned on the team's back four and current number one Artur Boruc.

The Polish international has had a near-exclusive preserve on Cherries' goalkeeping jersey since his arrival from Southampton – initially on loan – in 2014.
