CAPTAIN Chris Park revealed Dorset were looking to strengthen their resources with the addition of a club professional this season.

The Minor Counties outfit are set to hold interviews with prospective candidates in the next few weeks.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Park is excited by the prospect of adding a player with first-class experience to the Dorset ranks.

The successful applicant will work with some of the talented youngsters that have emerged through the county system in the past few years.

Park said: “We are looking to possibly sign a club professional this year and have a couple of interviews over the next two weeks.

“We just think it’s the right time to give our guys the bonus of an experienced player around the top order and in the dressing room.

“It’s something that Dorset have entertained in the past and we just think it is the right time now, after 10 or 11 years of not having a club professional, to try again and see if it works for us.”

Park added: “Our coach Paul Prichard has some contacts in high places at lots of different clubs, but it’s about getting the right personality.

“With all of these young players that are coming through, we just need to add some experience with the batting and have another experienced character in our dressing room.

“It’s looking promising but we have to jump through a few hoops first before we can announce anything.”

As well as a club professional, Park also indicated that Dorset were hopeful of having the services of Somerset’s Max Waller in the early part of the season during the MCCA Knockout Trophy campaign.
