DORSET’S Scott Mitchell today bowed out of the BDO World Championship following a 4-2 defeat by Belgian Geert De Vos.

Mitchell had no answer as the 35-year-old banged in three 11-dart finishes and no fewer than nine 180s at Lakeside Country Club.

Number two seed Mitchell knocked out De Vos at the last-16 stage two years ago on his way to winning the title.

But the 2015 World Trophy winner and 15th seed gained his revenge with an impressive performance in front of a packed crowd at the Frimley Green venue.

De Vos, who had lost all five of his previous second round matches, will meet either Darryl Fitton or Pip Blackwell in the quarter-finals.
