MATTY Legg extended to four wins and one defeat his professional record after outpointing Northern Ireland’s Casey Blair.
Fighting at Southampton Guildhall, the Bournemouth-born boxer always looked in control of the light-middleweight bout against an experienced opponent.
The 37-year-old Blair had lost 18 fights on the trot prior to victory over Alireza Alimohammadi, a win he earned a week before facing Legg.
But there was no danger of a fifth pro success for the Bangor fighter, who was outfoxed in every round.
Legg’s mentor, Steve Bendall, himself a former World Boxing Union middleweight title holder, praised his protégé’s efforts.
Bendall told the Daily Echo: “It was a good win. Matty won every round against an opponent who was a tough kid.
“But he stuck to his game plan and fought well. Although it was a good performance, it’s positive that he still has improvements to make.”
Bendall, whose gym is based in Parkstone, hopes to organise another professional show in Bournemouth next year.
