STUDIOUS boss Will Croker has cracked the formula for promotion – and it involves Bournemouth winning all their home games.

Ever-ambitious, Croker is plotting Lions' route to the top two in National Three South West and a return to Level Four of the rugby pyramid.

Bournemouth have banked two victories out of two at Chapel Gate so far this season and will target a third against Weston-super-Mare-based outfit Hornets tomorrow (3pm).

Head coach Croker says his team's winning run on home soil must continue throughout the campaign, alongside a healthy points return on their travels.

He told the Daily Echo: "It's one of those leagues where it's always difficult to win on the road because there is so much travelling involved.

"We are fifth in the league but we've played two games at home and four away. Camborne, who are top, have played four at home and two away. It's all a little bit false.

"We've run the statistics and if we win all our home matches and average 2.5 points per game on the road, we are going to end up with 98 points, which will almost certainly guarantee us a top-two spot.

"We're already averaging 1.8 points per game on the road and a win away from home next time will push us over 2.5.

"It's imperative we keep our home form going and that we keep our fortress mentality, which makes it a really difficult place for teams to come."

Asked if it was a realistic target to win every home fixture, Croker added: "Absolutely. There are a couple of major reasons. Firstly, other than Salisbury, every other club is at least two hours away from us.

"Teams don't stay overnight so when Camborne come to us, for example, they will have a four-and-a-half hour coach trip.

"We love playing at Chapel Gate. The pitch suits the way we want to play and if we win all our home games and pick up what we can away, we are in with a good shout."

Ryan Hughes takes his place at loosehead prop for the visit of Hornets while Ali Bennett and Dan Cawley are on the bench.

Croker added: "Hornets are a good club. Last year, they were a young team and wanted to play rugby in the right way, so we have to prepare for that."

Lions: Hughes, Manning, Firetto, Kenneally, Levey, Hennings, McDonald, Rees, Hardcastle, Davies, Roberts, Chislett, Hancox, Everett-Bolter, Jeffes. Replacements: Cawley, Bennett, Veneroso.
