EDDIE Howe has warned his Cherries players that every single one of them must be ready to cope with the cut and thrust of the Premier League.

The Vitality Stadium boss was largely unimpressed with the performance of his much-changed side against Preston in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Simon Makienok’s hat-trick condemned the hosts to a shock 3-2 defeat in extra-time with Howe admitting his team had let the home supporters down.

And ahead of Cherries’ Premier League clash with Everton today (3pm), Howe says his high expectations must be met.

He said: “You learn from every game but you learn more from the games that go against you. You learn more about individuals, characters and the response from the defeat is as important as the defeat itself.

“We need the whole squad ready to play. The Premier League is such a tough league that in any moment you could need any of the players that were on the pitch (against Preston).

“They have to come in and be good enough to withstand the rigours of the Premier League. We have high expectations and if the players don’t hit those then there needs to be some kind of talk so they can realise the seriousness of what they are doing.”
