CHERRIES are today expected to unveil Brad Smith as their sixth summer signing – subject to the player passing a medical at Vitality Stadium.

Smith is due to put the finishing touches to his move from Liverpool after the clubs last week agreed a fee, believed to have been in the region of £3million.

The 22-year-old was given permission to speak to Cherries and flew back from the Reds’ pre-season tour of America before heading to Bournemouth late last night.

His agent is understood to have finalised personal terms with Cherries officials on Monday with the Australia international set to sign the paperwork later today.

Smith, who has made five Premier League appearances for Liverpool, progressed through the ranks at Anfield and is thought to have impressed Eddie Howe when he started against Cherries in the Merseysiders’ 2-1 win at Vitality Stadium in April.

Predominantly a left-back, Smith can also operate in midfield and on the wing and would join former Liverpool team-mate Jordon Ibe in the Cherries squad.

Meanwhile, Cherries winger Harry Cornick is expected to be a loan target for League Two outfit Leyton Orient.

Cornick, 21, netted eight times in 42 appearances for Yeovil last season and has also served Welling, Aldershot and Havant & Waterlooville on loan.
