CHERRIES are understood to have concluded a deal to sign defender Brad Smith from Liverpool – for a fee in the region of £3million.
The 22-year-old is flying back from the Reds’ pre-season tour of America and will undergo a medical before putting the finishing touches to the move.
Smith’s agent met Cherries officials yesterday to discuss personal terms on behalf of the player after the two clubs had agreed a fee at the end of last week.
And while it was widely reported that the fee was £6m, the Daily Echo understands the figure settled on is actually closer to £3m.
Smith, who has made five Premier League appearances for Liverpool, is expected to be unveiled as Cherries’ sixth summer signing in the next 36 hours.
The versatile left-back would become the second Liverpool player to join Cherries this month following Jordon Ibe’s club record £13m switch.
Meanwhile, Cherries winger Harry Cornick is expected to be a loan target for League Two outfit Leyton Orient.
Cornick, 21, netted eight times in 42 appearances for Yeovil last season and has also served Welling, Aldershot and Havant & Waterlooville on loan.
