NEW Milton’s recent revival came to a shuddering halt as leaders Havant cruised to a comfortable 119-run victory.

The Green and Golds simply could not live with Rob Gibson (103) and Ben Walker (103*) whose 147-run second-wicket partnership set the tone for a one-sided clash.

Chris Stone (32) and Andy Gorvin (35) chipped in before Havant declared after 52 overs with the score at 283 for five.

Tom Arnold (40) and Dave Wakefield (43) responded with a 76-run start for New Milton but left-arm spinner Chris Morgan (4-50) removed both openers.

Nick Elliott (32) briefly checked Havant’s progress but the off-spin of Richard Hindley (5-45) and Morgan saw the visitors slump from 128-3 to 164 all out.

  • Lymington’s Matt Metcalfe toasted his third five-wicket haul of the season but his side’s three-wicket victory over rock-bottom Ventnor was unconvincing.

Metcalfe (5-62) was the tormentor in chief as the visitors tumbled to 155 all out and a tenth successive defeat.

Ryan Scott (24) fired Lymington to 39-1 but no significant partnerships followed.

Ventnor wicketkeeper James Cheek and leg-spinner Danny Cox (4-44) bowled well but Dom Hand (30) nudged Lymo across the winning line on 158 for seven.
