RECORD signing Jordon Ibe opened his goal account for Cherries in today’s pre-season friendly against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

The £13million buy from Liverpool netted with an excellent individual effort to make it 2-2 in Alan McLoughlin’s benefit match.

Gary Roberts opened the scoring for Portsmouth before Lewis Grabban levelled for the visitors, only for Michael Smith to restore the hosts’ lead with all three goals coming in the first half.

Ibe equalised for Cherries and Dan Gosling gave them the lead before Ben Tollitt’s deflected strike completed the scoring late on.

Ryan Fraser tested Alex Bass early on, the Portsmouth goalkeeper diving to his right to save from the Scotsman.

Roberts, who netted for Pompey in the FA Cup against Cherries last season, opened the scoring with a finely-taken strike after four minutes.

The 32-year-old shook off his marker and curled a delightful left-foot shot past Adam Federici from just inside the 18-yard box.

Grabban poked wide following a driving run by Lewis Cook before Roberts’s delicate effort drifted past the upright.

Cherries levelled when Grabban fired into the roof of the net after Fraser had picked him out with a neat cut-back midway through the first half.

But Portsmouth hit back to regain the lead almost immediately when Michael Smith profited from a ricochet before firing past Federici from around 12 yards. Smith was then in the right place at the opposite end to head over the crossbar after Marc Pugh had met a Fraser cross with an acrobatic volley.

Joshua King, one of five half-time substitutes for Cherries, had the ball in the net early in the second half but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Smith headed narrowly wide following a Roberts corner before Noel Hunt drew a fine save from Federici, the Cherries goalkeeper pushing his header around the post.

King saw his shot charged down by a defender following a cross from Eunan O’Kane before Ibe equalised with a fine individual strike in the 70th minute.

The new signing from Liverpool turned sharply on the edge of the box and drilled a low left-foot shot past Portsmouth goalkeeper Chris Kanopka.

Federici did well to retrieve the situation after his attempted clearance had hit Hunt, the goalkeeper scrambling back to save from the Portsmouth substitute.

Gosling fired Cherries ahead for the first time, the midfielder turning home a cross from Rhoys Wiggins with 11 minutes remaining before Tollitt’s deflected strike made it 3-3 in the closing stages.
