MARTIN Miller insists promotion is not talked about at Bournemouth but admits that may change if Lions bank a trio of wins in the next fortnight.

Bournemouth missed the chance to go top of Southern Premier League Division One last week when they suffered a last-gasp defeat to Andover.

The tight nature of the standings meant Miller's men slipped to sixth as a result but they remain very much in the race to secure promotion to the top flight.

The Chapel Gate side travel to Totton & Eling tomorrow (1pm) before facing Rowledge and Portsmouth over the next two weekends.

And captain Miller says going up – a prospect he dismissed last month – will become a genuine aim if Bournemouth can secure three precious victories.

He told the Daily Echo: "If we had won against Andover we would have been in with a real chance of getting promoted rather than in the bottom half but still, weirdly, in with a chance.

"It's really unpredictable. With that in mind, we aren't talking about promotion because everyone understands it's so close.

"You wouldn't predict a side sixth in the table at this stage of the season would have the chance of going up but mathematically it's possible. Equally, it's possible to fall through the trap door.

"Everyone is aware it's still alive. The gap has closed in the past couple of weeks and we could have been top this week. Equally, we are aware we could be seventh or eighth or below.

"We have to focus on each game but I'd like to think we could put a run together. If we keep playing the cricket we have played over the past month, we should be in the top half.

"If we beat Totton, Rowledge and Portsmouth then we will be looking to try and go up but they are tough games.

"You can talk about it until the cows come home but if we don't perform, it makes no difference.

"Our focus has to be on scoring runs, taking wickets and fielding well and if we can do that consistently well between now and the end of the season, who knows what is possible?"

Dom Clutterbuck is unavailable for the trip to second-bottom Totton while Sarang Urankar and Salman Khattak drop to the seconds. Matt Jones, Chris Bollom and Ryan Wiltshire come into the side.

Lions: Miller, Bridgen, Matthews, C Park, Hurley, Bollom, Wiltshire, Lombard, Pack, Warner, M Jones.

Lymington are unchanged for their home clash with Ventnor in the Premier Division, while Bashley and New Milton are away to Burridge and Havant, respectively.

Third-placed Bashley could give their title hopes a significant boost with victory over second-placed Burridge, who are clinging to the coattails of leaders Havant.

Lymo: Rogers, Scott, Lock, Crabb, Ellis, Hand, Roberts, Grierson, Beetham, Metcalfe, Freeman.
